shelf life + storage
All our Butt Naked products have a shelf life of 18 months unopened.
A majority of our range is preservative free, which means they are not made to sit on store shelves or in your shower for years and this is why we recommend using your scrubs within 12 months of opening the product. Preservative free ranges include; body scrubs, face and body oils, all powdered products and the entire lipcare range.
Think about fresh fruit in your fruit bowl - it doesn't last forever unless it's processed with preservatives & chemicals etc. We manufacture all products in small batches to ensure freshness. To help keep your body scrub fresh please use dry hands or a wooden spoon to scoop your scrub out of the bag.
And don't forget to keep them stored in a cool dry place and away from direct sunlight. Try not to get water inside any of our products jars or bags, and reseal the packaging when you're done.
vegan + cruelty-free?
We love our furry friends, so we only test on human buns only. You will find nothing derived from animals or animals by-products (eg beeswax, lanolin, milk). Not only that, we donate 5% of profits to Melbourne no-kill animal shelter Save a Dog Scheme.
Proudly certified Cruelty Free by Choose Cruelty Free Limited.
natural, plant-based or preservative free?
Yes, all of the above! All our waterless products use natural ingredients and do not contain preservatives. We stay away from synthetics, although some natural ingredients are harvested with ethical and sustainability concerns, this is where we opt for a man-made naturally derived option. Naturally derived means an ingredient is derived from nature and then used to artificially create a product that is delivered in an unnatural form. Just like your corn chips or that plant-based protein powder.
We stay away from nasty chemicals, fillers and parabens. We limit the amount of water based products in our range due to ecological concerns, however we understand for some skincare to be effective water needs to be added. When water is added to a formula you need a preserving system to keep that product stable for your skin. The word 'preservative' had a bad wrap - always associated in a negative light. But it's not possible to create a water-based formula with some kind of preservative. In this case we use an ECOCERT and COSMOS certified preservative that is accepted in natural and organic skincare formulations
We recommend you consult your doctor before using any of our products whilst pregnant and breastfeeding.

Products commonly avoided by pregnant women include caffeine and some essential oils including peppermint and lavender which can be found in selected products.
Lavender products are generally safe to use in the second trimester of pregnancy, for ease of mind consult your doctor before use.
body scrub info + use
Body Scrub + Tattoos
We do not recommend using our scrubs on a freshly inked body. Wait till your new ink completely healing before scrubbing.
How long does 250g Body Scrub last?
This is dependant on how dirty you like getting per scrubbing session, but on 250g scrub should last up to 6-7 scrubs.
How often should I use the Body Scrubs?
For best results we suggest getting naked 3-4 times a week for general use. If you are targeting a specific area, this may change, there really is no right or wrong!
Good for fake tan?
If you like to fake it, we suggest our coffee scrubs for use before applying fake tan to help with moisture and removing dry skin - helping with a streak free tan. Our Coffee scrubs also aid in removing your tan once its starts looking nasty and orange like an umpa lumpa .
Scrubbing on your face?
We recommend using small doses on your face for a little extra exfoliation, Apply in small, circular motions, and leave to dry for a few minutes. Then rinse. Use a light face wash to remove excess oil. Patch test first if you have sensitive skin and avoid contact with eyes. We do not recommend using the Coffee + Epsom scrub on your face due to the minty fresh fresh peppermint oil which might be a bit too 'in your face' for your face.
Scrubbing + Sunburn?
Scrubbing with sunburn does not sound fun, so don't do it, wait until that burn has settled.
Using Butt Naked Body Scrubs?
Soak your body in the shower. Get Handsy. Grab a handful or 2 and massage the skin in a circular motion, concentrating on those problem areas. Let it sink in for 3-4 minutes, then rinse off and enjoy your smooth butt naked bliss. You can follow with a light body wash and moisturiser if desired. Repeat 3-4 times a week, we recommend a patch test first.
For bath soak products (Himalayan + Lavender Scrub + Soak) Throw a handful into a warm bath and relax and unwind.

Why skin oils?
oils promotes a healthy glow.
As we age our skin produces less natural oils, which can leave skin looking dull and dehydrated. No matter the cause of dull skin, body and face oils can help restore moisture and encourage glowing skin
seals in moisture and adds extra nourishment.
Oil is especially nourishing to dry skin. If you have dry skin because of the weather, or if you typically have dry skin, facial oil can help boost your moisturizer’s hydrating efforts. When facial oil is applied after your moisturizer it seals in all of the hydrating ingredients, making your skin more likely to hold onto that added hydration.
protects skin from harmful pollutants When applied as the last step of your skin care routine in the morning, facial oil can act as a barrier on the outer layer of the skin. Facial oil can help keep moisture in.
help foundation apply more smoothly The silky, luxurious feel of facial oil can help smoothly apply concealer or liquid foundation, especially if your skin is dry, flaky or has blemishes. Facial oil helps your makeup brushes glide across the skin for a flawless finish, making it less likely to clump or streak.
when to use oil on your skin?
Our oils can be used in a few different way, that may be as an spot treatment, for oil cleansing, as a makeup remover or an everyday moisturising oil. Please check individual oil description for more information.
how often should you use your oils?
Our oils are mostly non comedogenic meaning they are unlikely to clog pores. It’s really up to you how often you use your skin oil, depending on your skin type some oils can be used everyday as a cleanser or to moistures or sporadically as a spot treatment.
Some of our body scrubs, and oil contain nut ingredients such as sweet almond. Please check ingredients listing before purchasing products.

clay mask info + use
Which Clay is best for you?
French Pink Clay (Illite Clays)
Used in product: Rose Clay Mask
Typically best suited for normal to oily skin types.
Illite clays are non-expanding but still quite absorptive, this is because Illite clays have a highly porous crystal structure. As a result, they’re typically more drying and very good at removing impurities.
French Pink Clay is not mined to be pink, this clay is a mixture of red illite and white kaolin. As a result, this clay is much a gentler purifier and works well on mature and more sensitive skin types, touted as one of the mildest clays out there.
Kaolin Clay (Kaolinite)
Used in product: Hemp and Cactus Clay Mask
Typically best suited for sensitive to dry skin types.
These clay minerals are the main ingredients in kaolin (China) clay. Kaolin clays aren’t absorptive but they do adsorb (holds impurities on its surface), they are a non-swelling clay with low cation-exchange capacities. Quite useful for sensitive to dry skin types in cleansing products since they are one of the mildest clays.
White Kaoiln Clay is known as China or white cosmetic clay, it has highly adsorbent properties. White Kaolin is white due to its high aluminum content and is the mildest of the cosmetic clays. These clays adsorb impurities without removing the natural oils on our skin, making it well suited for dry to sensitive skin types as well as an exceptional ingredient to use in mineral makeup.
How to use Our clay masks can be used weekly.
To use your clay mask grab your bamboo spoon, and a bowl (wooden or glass) and mix 1-2 teaspoons of powder with a drop of 2 of water. Mix until you form a clay like paste. If more water is needed add more drops as required.
Apply to your face, avoiding contact with eyes. Sit back, take some selfies or hug your dog (our choice) for 5-10 minutes as the mask dries. Once the mask dries rinse with warm water. You can apply a light moisturiser post mask treatment if desired.
To find out more about the benefits of each clay mask visit their individual product pages.

supporting save-a-dog scheme
We are passionate about a cruelty free life for all creatures great and small. Our furry friends (dogs and cats) are such a vital part of our wellbeing and happiness every day. What else cheers you up more after a crappy day than that big (or small) boof-head of your running towards you ecstatically for a cuddle and some big licks. This is why it was a no brainer for use to support Save-A-Dog Scheme (SADS), Melbourne.
A community-based not-for-profit animal welfare organisation that saves hundreds of dogs and cats from being killed every year. SADS have a no-kill philosophy and provide veterinary care to sick or injured animals so they can live out their natural lifespan. SADS was established in 1985 to offer a humane alternative to the killing of unwanted dogs, especially dogs of good temperament, that would otherwise be destroyed at pounds and shelters and later included caring for and sheltering cats as well.
Save-A-Dog Scheme believes that the dichotomy of a dog being "Mans Best Friend" on the one hand and an unwanted article for destruction on the other is totally unacceptable. Save-A-Dog Scheme is a "coal-face" organisation, which saves hundreds of dogs and cats each year and which seeks, by example, to provide a better way of treating non-human animals.

What are COSMOs and ECOCERT preservatives?
A cosmetic certification developed to unite multiple certifications and labels in order to create one standard that is internationally recognised for natural and organic cosmetics.
This standard focuses on the core principles of prevention and safety, from production of raw materials to the distribution of finished products.
- Promoting organic agriculture, and respecting biodiversity
- Using natural resources responsibly with respect to the environment and ecosystems
- Using processing and manufacturing that's clean and respectful of human health and the environment.
- Integrating and developing the concept of "Green Chemistry" in place of using petrochemicals providing transparency for consumers.
The COSMOS-standard is classified into five categories:
- Water – vital and basic raw material in product development.
- Minerals and ingredients of mineral origin – non-certifiable, requires clear environmental rules in their use, and in further processing;
- Physically processed agro-ingredients – organic agriculture that reflects pure or allows simple processing;
- Chemically processed agro-ingredients – certifiable by using agricultural organic raw materials and manufacturing processes that are clean and authorised, all under the umbrella of “Green Chemistry”;
- Other ingredients – a extremely limited list of preservatives and ingredients allowed, as long as there are no effective natural alternatives available to ensure the safety of consumers or efficacy of the product.
This standard was set to inspect ingredients, manufacturing process and packaging to ensure that the entire supply chain compliant. ECOCERT only approves the use of “green chemicals” and accredit products that meet its strict criteria.
ECOCERT strives to promote the use of ingredients derived from renewable resources and production and manufacturing processes that are environmentally safe.
