coffee (ground)

While most of us rely on coffee to help us feel alive in the mornings, what you might not know is that you should be relying on it to help improve your skin. Thanks to its many antioxidants, which include phenols that help fight skin damage, coffee can help reduce cellulite by dilating the blood vessels beneath the skin and helping to improve overall blood flow. The best way to get the desired results (buh bye skin dimples), is by using a coffee scrub to exfoliate your skin.

Coffee can also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines, redness and sun spots simply by applying it to the skin. These magic beans are also rich in vitamin B3 meaning they’ve been proven to combat nonmelanoma skin cancers and can prevent other skin conditions as well. Booyah!

Coffee not only kicks butt when it comes to helping to increase brain activity but it also helps to treat pesky skin conditions like acne and other skin infections. This is because coffee has both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, and combined with the natural exfoliation of coffee grounds, can collectively fight acne and banish it for good (here’s hoping).

Our ground coffee is harvested by sun drying in Brazil.

salt - epsom

Epsom Salt is good at a lot of things, especially helping to soothe your aching muscles, relieve any tension and sending acne back to where it came from (somewhere far away from your face).

We all know acne likes to build itself up by having oils, dirt and dead skin cells clog hair follicles, but epsom salt breaks through all the gunk, helping to reduce the swelling and inflammation (and appearance) of acne.

Not only is this salt an acne angel, it’s coarse texture is also great for exfoliating skin by removing dead skin cells and loosening blackheads. We can almost hear you saying “but I have no idea what epsom salt is though”, and well we’re glad you asked.

Epsom salt is a chemical compound made up of magnesium, oxygen, and sulfur and is definitely your best buddy when it comes to taking back control of your skin from the ruthless baddies known as acne, acnemore & acnemost* (see above points).

salt - himalayan

Yep, you guessed it. Himalayan sea salt comes all the way from the himalayan mountains (we know that was a real brain teaser). Ancient oceans actually deposited these salts more than 250 million years ago when the mountains were being formed and lucky for you we happened to get our hands on some (so you don’t have to trek all the way to Pakistan to do it yourself).

We can all agree that having any kind of bath is relaxing but by adding some himalyan salt to yours, you can instantly feel like you’ve transported yourself to a sunny beach somewhere thanks to its ability to calm, soothe and relax.

Having a himalayan salt bath can also be good to alleviate all those hard to reach places of their acne (think the back or shoulders). It is because of the antimicrobial properties found in salt that kick butt when it comes to treating skin conditions like acne, or even psoriasis and eczema, helping to reduce scaling, redness and irritation. There’s literally no negatives to test driving this salt when you’re having your next bath with the positives being a relaxed state of mind and a body free of all its acne.

sea salt

Sea salt an excellent natural exfoliator, helping to get rid of dead skin cells and rejuvenate and detox your skin. Salt helps to absorb toxins from your skin, leaving it smooth and glowin’ (and free from all the nasties).

Our Sea salt is hand harvested using traditional methods on the Guérande peninsula in France from coarse salt, which is dried, then crushed. It is not processed, whitened or refined and is naturally grey in colour as it crystallises on contact with clay which give it its high trace element content.

Harvested every day in summer when mild weather combines wind and sun. The salt is concentrated in the late afternoon under the natural effects of evaporation. The salt worker uses a wide wooden rake known as a “las” to push the salt to the edges of the pond. They then pull it on to the “ladure”, a round platform made of clay, where it is left for the night to drain. Next day, the salt worker uses a wooden wheelbarrow to carry the 60 kg of salt per “œillet” to the large stockpile of salt known as the “mulon”.
